Budget-Friendly Bathroom Makeover: Part 1

A few weeks ago, Reginald asked if I would help him make over his guest bathroom. This was right around the time when we were preparing for Hurricane Idalia. If you know me, you already know my response. Absolutely!

Reginald has lived in his Condo for a little over a year. He’s decided it’s time to make the space his own. We sat down and discussed his vision, the budget, and the timeline for the project.

We tossed around several ideas for his vision of the space. Then we sourced the internet for inspiration/ideas. Since the budget is limited, DIY projects and paint are the heavy lifters in this makeover. I will give you the total amount of the budget at the end of the post, so keep reading.

THE BATHROOM NOW

I must admit the bathroom needs lots of TLC. But don’t worry it’s in good hands! The vanity is the first item on the list to get the star treatment. A new countertop, fresh paint, and updated hardware will set the tone for the bathroom.

We will keep the mirror and dress it up with a frame. The medicine cabinet must go! Maybe not! Vinyl peel-and-stick flooring will take the place of the ceramic tiles. Yay!

We have planned a trip to the granite yard. Hopefully, Reginald will find a solid surface countertop that he loves. If not, I will paint the countertop myself. Shh!

A batten and board treatment will be added to the lower half of the walls. This will add some depth and interest to the space. Afterwards, the walls will receive a fresh coat of Polar Bear Paint, by Behr.

The light fixture is a keeper, but the shower curtain will be replaced with a white waffle weave curtain. Before I forget, the total budget for this makeover is 500 dollars, and the project is set to begin in October.

Lovelies, that’s it for now. I’m super excited about this makeover, and I can’t wait to share this process with you! Stay tuned!
