Transforming My Tiny Studio Apartment Sleeping Quarters for Fall

Fall is just around the corner. I am so excited. Days are shortened and nights become longer. I can sense the slight change in the weather. Starting my mornings/days on the patio are more enjoyable now.

Since the temperature is cooling off, I am ready to tackle a few projects around my tiny space

The first project on the to-do list is to transform my sleeping quarters. I live in a 640-square-foot studio apartment. I carved out a tiny space for my queen bed. I also added a few bedroom essentials; stools, a side table, etc. At the moment, the space is a hot mess, thank goodness I live alone.

I know, the before pictures leave a lot to be desired. At this point, the space serves its purpose, sleeping quarters. The goal is to cozy it up for the upcoming season/holidays. Everything in the quarters will stay the same except, the jewelry storage. It will be removed. I will discuss the plans for the space later in the post, so keep reading!

Change is coming!

I’ve contemplated redoing this space for quite some time. So, while I was on vacation in North Florida; I went to Tallahassee Decorative Fabrics for inspiration. I love shopping there. It’s a family-owned business and the folks there are super friendly and helpful. While I browsed through the store, the above fabric and the two fabric swatches below caught my eye.

I figured all three fabrics would complement the wall hanging above my bed. Will any of these make the cut, you ask? Well, you have to come back to the blog to find out. Don’t you just love me?

Hint, hint. I really like this one. The colors will enhance the items in the space, and add a bit of warmth/character.

The hanging above my bed was gifted to me. Unless I find something that catches my eye it stays. Now, back to the fabric.

This fabric has been around for quite a while. I love this bold Ikat print. It would look great on the benches at the foot of my bed. I think it adds a touch of the unexpected. What about you?

These are the stool/stools in question. I purchased them several years ago. I can’t remember where I got them from. I love them because they fit perfectly at the foot of the bed.

I love this fabric it will add a bit of life to the tired space. The colors are bold and vibrant and I love the print. Butterflies, Hummingbirds, and Tropical Flowers on a black background. Eye-catching and Stylish!

The simplicity of this fabric will stand the test of time. I purchased this fabric years ago from Greenhouse Fabrics. I love the finish. It’s casual with an understated elegance. This would be a great fabric for pillows. You like?

Now that you’ve seen my fabric inspiration, let’s get a rundown on my plans for the space. As I stated earlier, the jewelry storage will be removed. Hopefully, I’ll create a budget-friendly way to store it.

sorry for the fuzzy pic

The green metal storage cabinet will get a fresh coat of paint, but I don’t know what color yet. I would love to paint the bed and the walls, but that ain’t happening.

The white bedding will be switched for a richer color. I’m thinking about a deep shade of green, or maybe a rust color. You know the drill. You have to come back to see my selections.

On the wall, across from the bed is an antique chest used to store clothing. I will replace the hardware and fix the chipped stain.

Anywho, the goal is to have this space completed by mid-October. Lovelies, that’s it for now. I’m excited about this transformation. And I can’t wait to share it with you!
